I spun 4 oz of Cotswold lamb fiber from Catawampus Farm in Maine for the Shave ’em to Save ’em passport program. The fiber was gray, and I overdyed it red with food coloring. There was going to be a glove KAL in January, but when it didn’t get going, I went ahead and cast on. My hands were cold. I finished these in early march, just as the group got going in FB.
I think one of our dogs chewed on a skein; the first glove had lots of broken ends. I didn’t want to abandon any of the wool because it was handspun and there wasn’t much. I’m OK with sewing in loose ends. I didn’t have a pattern; I cast on and knit in K2P1 ribbing all the way.
I realized why so few of the glove patterns in Ravelry have anything fancy on the fingers–fingers are hard to knit! I’m not thrilled with how the ribbing curved around my fingers, but I didn’t realize what was happening as I picked up stitches and then decreased for a taper.
The gloves look strange; they do have a long cuff. They fit great. I need to get some conductive thread for the fingertips so I can use my phone without taking them off.
