I found these guys through a few Pinterest pins and when I saw they had a book out at good (to me) used book prices, I jumped. If only it were longer! I keep coming back hoping to find more stuff. Love it all. Not so much for the specific projects, per se, but for the ideas. I would LOVE to applique a torn leather chair, and may well grab the next one (chair) I see. (I already harvested leather from a sectional sofa that was abandoned.)
Not wild about skeletal chair backs, but do like the idea of putting my own cut-outs into broken chairs. Ditto harvesting just the legs from a worn out aalto chair.
Mostly, I like the way the ideas are worked up, shown in the development process rather than simply “step by step.” I don’t quite understand the plexi chair, myself, but I do know it makes me think about battered chairs a bit differently. And battered chairs are very common in the stream.
I wish they had shown more of their inventory; how they collect and store parts. The authors referred to using a “car” to bring things home and I wonder if that’s actually the case, or if it’s a truck; suppose it doesn’t really matter. The rate-limiting factor in my own creativity is space to store parts and make stuff, so information about how other people manage their finds is always welcome.
